This Month's Stories
Stronger Every Day: Staying Active at Home, Work and Beyond
Ann Benish is a proud UW-Madison alumna, and a dedicated Orangetheory franchise owner with a passion for building healthier, more connected communities. She believes that every fitness journey starts with a single step and is committed to providing the coaching and environment needed to make that step count.

About the Workout: The Orangetheory Advantage

  • The Science: Using heart-rate technology and the science of EPOC, Orangetheory stimulates the metabolism to create the 'Afterburn'—burning calories for up to 36 hours post-workout.
  • The Results: A high-energy, 60-minute session that burns an estimated 500–1,000 calories.
  • The Approach: A combination of interval cardio, strength, and core training led by expert coaches.
  • The Inclusive Design: Designed for all ages and all fitness levels, allowing everyone to train at their own personal intensity."
Nancy touts gardens in celebration of Earth Day
Sometimes we forget what a plethora of knowledge and insights may be found at any Rotary gathering. Recently Matt Joynt enlightened us about all the great things happening in Mequon-Thiensville Schools. Ellen MacFarlane shared stories of the impact Rotary makes in Guatemala. Jenne Hohn, Sandy Custer, and Kathleen Schneider keep us up to date on the progress toward the Rotary All-User Playground.

Now we have our own Nancy Witte-Dycus sharing her wisdom about gardening and tips on how we can celebrate Earth Day. Join us April 21, for a program sure to feel like spring.
Free Screening of "The Librarians"
In commemoration of National Library Week, we would love for you to join us for a free screening of the award-winning PBS documentary The Librarians on Wednesday, April 23 at Inventor’s Brewpub in Port Washington. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m., and the film will begin at 6:30 p.m. This event is sponsored by the five Ozaukee County public libraries.

The Librarians is a compelling documentary that follows librarians across the country as they are confronted by rising efforts to remove books from library shelves. Set against the backdrop of unprecedented censorship in states such as Texas and Florida, the film highlights the important role libraries and library professionals play in protecting intellectual freedom and ensuring access to information.

Following the screening, there will be a brief discussion panel featuring local librarians who will reflect on the themes of the film and share perspectives from our own communities.
We hope you will join us for this timely and engaging evening of film and conversation. Please feel free to share this invitation with others who may be interested.
