I hope all of you are having a joyous holiday season!  As we enter into the New Year, I'm reflecting upon the last 6 months and how fast my term as president is flying by.  I would like to say "Thank You!" for a wonderful first half and for not being too critical of things I may have missed.  However, I tend to be very critical of myself and as I look at my next 6 months, I can't help but think that I'm running out of time to make a bigger difference.  You are an incredible group of members that really care about the community and our club.  I'm so thrilled to be a part of such a club and I want to help contribute to the greatness we can offer as a service club as much as possible.  

 

As president, I'm able to drive for awhile and have chosen to drive toward new ways of communicating, new ways of promotion and exposure and, of course, toward significant progress on our new project.  I think we've made some progress in communication and promotion by way of updating and utilizing our website and reestablishing the weekly bulletin.  However, we've only scratched the surface of their potential.  There is definitely a learning curve and much more to do. Tackling this learning curve is all of our responsibility as Rotarians. Rotary, as a whole, is changing so that it can keep current with today's way of communication ultimately continuing to make membership appealing to all generations.  Our job?  Learning how to do this ourselves within our club.  Reading the weekly bulletin, actively clicking into the bulletin to get to the website, logging in to use the website and ultimately contributing to stories, news and pictures all contribute to actively learning how to use our new tool.  Please get familiar with this exciting new tool as your resource within the club and a great way of sharing the club with others.  Be a part of this learning curve.

 

Lastly, I believe the New Project needs to be significant.  One that has "Rotary" written all over it.  I have faith that our New Project Committee will present some things that we may yet again fill a need within our community.  My goal is to at least be into the beginning stages of this project by the time the Changing of the Guard occurs.

 

In this upcoming New Year, I encourage you to step up and contribute your time, ideas, and knowledge in ways that you haven't before while being a member of your Rotary Club. Help me to make a significant difference in our club during this Rotary year and for future years to come.  I wish you all an exciting ringing in of the New Year and best wishes for a great 2016!
