Is it a bird? A plane? Animal or mineral? In the alphabet soup of Rotary, CAC stands for Community Action Council. You may have heard the term, but do you know what it means?
The Community Action Council was formed in 1993 and was comprised of past presidents who were "actively involved with the Mequon and Thiensville communities." Their charge was to "investigate the needs of the Mequon and Thiensville communities and make recommendations to the president of the T-M Rotary Club for how these needs should be addressed."
Over the the years the CAC instituted a $15,000 reserve and changed from a 3-year spending plan to spending the monies raised during the annual fundraiser during the same Rotary year. With this change, the CAC meets as soon as possible after the amount raised is identified and makes a recommendation to the board of directors.
The current president appoints two past presidents per year, who serve 3-year rotating terms, and one current Board member, who serves as the liaison between the CAC and the Board. The CAC reviews all the requests for donations and makes a recommendation back to the Board for distribution of our funds to local and international charities.
Congratulate Tim Vertz, who is the Board liaison for this year, and Greg Sommersberger and Pam Koch, who begin a 3-year term. They join Rob Holtz, Van Mobley, Todd Davis, and Karl Hertz.

She recently completed a masters degree in Conflict Resolution in Divided Societies at King’s College London. She is now married and living in Saudi Arabia.
