Join the Fun

Tuesday we will celebrate the holidays of Chanukah and Christmas with a very special sing-along.  If you are bringing a spouse, work friend, or a significant other, let Shelley know ASAP so we will have enough food.

Please join us as Ryan Hart plays holiday favorites chosen by club members and we usher in the holidays with joyous song.

See you Tuesday!

Give the Gift of Rotary

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people — children, families, and entire communities — benefit from projects funded by The Rotary Foundation. When you give to Rotary, you enable local leaders to create sustainable solutions to their community's most pressing needs.

Although Rotary gives back in countless ways, we focus our service efforts in six areas: promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, and growing local economies.

With your support we can do even more. By making a gift of any size, you can be part of this positive change.

And the Winner Is...

Congratulations to Team Kirgues who came in first place with a total of 713 items for the Food Drive Team Competition!

The real winner of this competition was Family Sharing of Ozaukee County.  Our members generously provided them with 1799 items for those less fortunate families of our county.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this important activity.

What Is a Bublr?

Jack Weise asks a question about Bublr Bikes following the meeting.

“Bublr Bikes” is the name of Milwaukee’s bike share program, a technology-supported system of bicycles that can be rented for short, quick trips around Milwaukee’s central business district and adjoining neighborhoods. Riders can take out a bike at any station, pay for it with credit card or prepaid membership, and return the bike to any other station. Each station holds ~10 bikes.

Bublr Users Burned 17 Million Calories this Year!

Caressa Givens, Community Engagement Coordinator for Bublr, engages members with the story of Bublr.   The program  has been in existence in Milwaukee for 2.5 years.  Trek provides the bikes, and the users provide the pedal power.  There are 56 Bublr stations located in Milwaukee and Wauwatosa, with fees covering only about 20% of the cost.

A van and Team Bublr monitor each station to insure the bikes remain in working order and to even out the bikes per station.  Sponsorships and Federal grants provide most of the money for the program.   Most stations are located near public transportation.
