Born September 15, 1941 in Springfield, Illinois and raised in Highland Park, Illinois, Stan participated on many athletic teams and was inducted into Highland Park's Athletic Hall of Fame for his swimming prowess. He often reminisced of his time working at Wrigley Field and loved sharing stories of his many trips to Door County. He attended Eastern Illinois University where he met Carol Hiddle. The two were married in 1965 and moved to Milwaukee while he attended law school at Marquette University before settling in Mequon where they lived for more than 50 years. During that time, Stan was elected to serve as an Alderman in Mequon and served for multiple terms. Stan started his legal profession working for Arthur Andersen for a short time before transitioning to his own law practice which he actively continued up until the day he passed. As an attorney, he was a committed member of the Rotary Club of Thiensville-Mequon for more than 30 years.

Stan lived his faith and was an example for all those that met him. His faith served as a compass, leading him to a life of generosity, kindness, and service to others. From playing, watching and teaching any sport he possibly could to meeting new friends at the gym, his love for making connections and bringing people together was evident in all he did. His actions reflected his deep commitment to living a Christ-centered life. Stan was dedicated to many faith-centered organizations and was known for his work with Heritage Christian Schools, Faithwalkers Saturday Bible Study, Christian Business Men's Association, and the YMCA.

Stan was a hero, mentor, and friend to his grandchildren and often could be found playing a game of chess, giving swimming lessons, and attending their many, many sporting events (or sneaking them ice cream). He lovingly became known as “Grandpa Stan” to his granddaughters' volleyball club and traveled to matches all over the country to watch them play. Teaching his grandson the intricacies of chess was a favorite pastime.

Physical fitness and exercise were a very important part of his life. Stan was well known on the pickleball court, which he started playing after years of racquetball and handball at the Marquette University Rec Plex. As an attorney, his friends and family would often joke about which “court” he was spending more time on and he would recruit new players as often as possible, teaching them how to play and making sure they showed up each week. His sense of humor and larger-than-life personality came through in all of his interactions both on and off the court.

Finally, it is difficult to express in words the dedication and commitment Stan had for his family. He

held family at the core of his life, and his commitment to his loved ones was truly exceptional. Every moment spent with his family was precious to him. Whether he was nurturing close connections, imparting wisdom, or just laughing about something silly, Stan remained a steadfast source of love and strength for his family. That devotion to family will forever serve as an inspiration to those who were fortunate enough to be embraced by his warm and caring presence.

Stan will be greatly missed by so many people and in so many areas of life. It is our hope that those that had the pleasure of meeting him will continue with his Christ-centered life of kindness, compassion and generosity.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at CrossWay NorthShore Church, 2500 West Brown Deer Road, River Hills, Wisconsin from 12:00pm to 2:45pm with a Celebration of Life service to follow.
